A Suite Of Age-Appropriate PowerPoint Templates Transforming Online Lessons

Background

The Learning Lab sought to create a set of Microsoft PowerPoint templates tailored to support teachers in delivering engaging online lessons via Zoom. These templates needed to align with the company’s branding, be age-appropriate, and suit various lesson content while being user-friendly for teachers with different levels of technical ability. The brief requested four distinct templates, each customised to resonate with specific age groups, but all using a consistent set of slide layouts to ensure ease of use.

Design Requirements:

Template 1: Colourful themes with animal/plant illustrations for ages 3-6.

Template 2: Classroom theme (stationery, books) for ages 7-10.

Template 3: Generic theme with objects like buildings/plants for ages 11-14.

Template 4: Simple, colour-blocked design with minimal graphics for ages 15-16.

Each theme incorporated a common set of 17 unique slide layouts to support lesson structures, including content slides, quiz slides, interactive elements, and countdown timers for activities.

What we did

We designed and built a suite of four customised PowerPoint templates, each tailored to an age-specific theme.

Highlights included:

Engaging Animations: Each template included animated countdown timers, interactive quiz elements, and slides to encourage participation.
Ease of Use: Designed to be simple and functional, allowing teachers to instantly start delivering lessons without the need for complex knowledge or setup.
Age-Appropriate Design: Each theme aligned visually with its target age group to create are sonant, engaging environment for students.

The result

The Learning Lab team reported highly positive feedback from teachers, who found the templates engaging and easy to use. This PowerPoint template set provided a practical, visually appealing tool for delivering online lessons that aligned with The Learning Lab’s branding and educational goals.
