A Fresh Look for Australian Aid’s Humanitarian Partnerships

Background
Australian Aid / The Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP) and its Disaster READY program had been using the same branding for five years. While their logos remained relevant, their templates and visual assets were starting to feel outdated. Given their work across multiple developing countries, they needed an updated, flexible approach that complemented existing assets like banners and printed materials, which partners wouldn’t be replacing in the short term.
AHP required a suite of Microsoft templates that would work seamlessly across reports, briefings, fact sheets, meeting agendas, and data presentations. These needed to be highly customisable, allowing different teams to adapt them to specific needs while maintaining a professional and cohesive appearance. Integration between Word and Excel was a key priority, ensuring charts and data could be smoothly incorporated into reports. Additionally, they needed PowerPoint decks for presentations and branded social media graphics to create a consistent visual presence across platforms.
What we did
We started by refining AHP and Disaster READY’s colour palettes, introducing fresh, modern shades that complemented their existing branding. This allowed us to refresh their look without making older assets obsolete (as these would continue to be used in certain locations around the world). From there, we developed a comprehensive set of Microsoft templates tailored to their diverse communication needs.
For Word, we created versatile templates for reports, briefings, fact sheets, and agendas, each featuring customisable cover pages, structured table styles, and consistent text styles and colour palette. The Excel template was designed for clear data presentation, with well-formatted tables, budget tracking sheets, and visually appealing charts that could be seamlessly transferred between documents and presentations.
The PowerPoint decks maintained this refreshed look, offering a range of slide layouts to accommodate different content types while ensuring clarity and readability. Finally, we designed a set of social media templates that allowed AHP to produce on-brand graphics quickly and easily.
The result
The updated templates provided AHP with a more professional and engaging visual identity while ensuring continuity with their existing materials. The new colour palette refreshed their look without requiring major reprints of physical assets.
Teams could now produce reports, data-heavy presentations, and briefings more efficiently, with Word, PowerPoint and Excel working in harmony to create polished communications. The PowerPoint decks enabled clearer, more impactful presentations, while the social media templates gave their digital presence a consistent and recognisable style.
By balancing flexibility with brand consistency, the new templates empowered AHP to communicate their work more effectively, whether in print, on-screen, or online.
